Microsoft’s Windows 8 is a big hit with millions of downloads. It is the OS that fits all devices like PCs, Notebooks, Tablets and Smartphones. Now Microsoft came forward with Windows 8.1 an update to Windows 8. Microsoft fixed many bugs in earlier version of Windows 8 and introduced many new features in Windows 8.1. We will quickly walk through some of the new features and advancements in Windows 8.1.

Windows 8.1 First Look


In Windows 8 most of the people loved to put their family pic as lock screen pic, now you can keep a slideshow of pictures as your lock screen. Now you can take pictures with built in cam right from your lock screen.

 Windows 8.1 Start Screen

In Windows 8.1 you can set background image to your start screen and even more colors are available. Now you name a group of apps and rename if you want. In Windows 8.1 you can select multiple apps and uninstall or unpin or regroup at a time.


In Windows 8 by simply swiping top or bottom right corner you can search for files, apps and settings. In Windows 8.1 the search is even more improved, now it also shows search results from the web using bing search.

Apps and Windows Store

Built in apps like photos app, music app, skydrive app and camera app are improved. Now we can resize apps, we can split screen and use 2 apps at a time. Windows store has many improvements in terms of app description, categorizing, search etc.

In Windows 8.1 you can save files directly to Skydrive and access them anywhere on any device with Skydrive app. When you login with your Microsoft account it automatically applies settings to your device.

In Windows 8 we have two different Options for Customization and PC Settings. In Windows 8.1 all your PC Settings will be at one place. You can manage resolution, power options and even skydrive from PC Settings.

Internet Explorer 10 is the first browser to introduce privacy while browsing. Now with Windows 8.1 you can use Internet Explorer (IE11) gives you faster browsing, better touch performance and few new features. We will disclose full details once Windows 8.1 is officially launched.
